The Approach

The team at Super Bright LEDs set out to solve a long-standing challenge: the lack of effective product representation on their website.

Through a series of discovery meetings to clarify their goals, it became clear that the core issue lay in how products were being visually presented. Most product galleries featured only static angles and minimal specifications, leaving customers with limited context. After reviewing competitive benchmarks and analyzing trends across other markets, the need for improved imagery and visual storytelling became evident.

Starting Concept

Product meetings were organized to define visual needs of products from different categories, discuss which products were most deserving of a visual uplift, and, if possible, how to measure proof of the concept that would be presented. The mandate was to create clear and enticing images that echoed reliability and complement the products' appearances.

LED UFO High Bay lights acted as a solid foundation for future gallery layouts. As one of their best-selling categories, there was plenty of data to determine what needed to be addressed. Their image galleries underrepresented their versatile applications, benefits, and features. There was also the potential to upsell a range of compatible accessories. That understanding, paired with future product considerations in mind, led to a functional solution. View here

Some callouts were tailored to specific products, while others were standardized across all galleries. Mandatory slides included headers like “Product Details,” “What’s in the Box,” and “Perfect For.” In contrast, “IP Rating,” “Wattage & Selectable Color,” and “Motion Sensor,” were considered product-specific graphics that were used whenever applicable.

Concept Expanded

Some products needed to be re-photographed to improve how they were shown. For example, LED strip lights used to be displayed with a diagonal close-up shot, which presented issues on a listing level.

A new label design was created to show more of the actual product, include a photo of the strip light turned on, and highlights key features. This made it much easier for customers to quickly see what each strip light offers and compare different options. View full strip light gallery here

Badges & Callouts

Feature callouts were updated to match the new gallery designs, while the existing color palette and typography were intentionally retained as a subtle introduction to upcoming brand guidelines.

The creation of product badges initially began as a way to enhance photo galleries, but quickly grew into a long-term collaborative effort between the design team and product management. As product requirements evolved, the badge system developed into a broader, ongoing initiative. Today, these badges are used consistently across product galleries, documentation, and overview sections.

Listing Images (Product Page)

Some product lines called for fewer visual enhancements but required more detailed instructions or technical information. In these cases, content was placed in the product details below the fold. This approach to listing imagery moves beyond product galleries, offering a clearer, more accessible way to present key information without overwhelming the user experience. View example here
